Review: 妖々剣戟夢想 (Youyou Kengeki Musou)
妖々剣戟夢想 (Youyou Kengeki Musou) is a fan-made hack & slash game inspired from the story of the popular bullet-hell game Touhou. It features Konpaku Youmu as the playable character.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the graphics, considering this game is 100% fan made. The game itself is very straight forward and the mechanics are obvious enough to be picked up almost instantly. The fun elements are definitely present. However i think the difficulty level doesn't live up to the game's Japanese origin. The boss fights on hard mode are challenging but after a few tries you have this "yeah i get it" feeling that reduces the fight mechanic to a rinse and repeat. The game is also very short, you'll most likely beat it in normal within 2 to 3 hours.
On the bright side, the bullet-hell elements of the original Touhou game were perfectly integrated to the boss fights and they actually bring a very interesting concept to the original hack & slash model.
Kirisame Marisa's fight was fucking genius, also.
After an exceedingly long time in beta, the complete version is finally out. It's free to play and only 607mb once installed.

Once again, the touhou fanbase lives up to its reputation of mindblowingly exceeding expectations.
8/10 for the effort, considering it's fan-made and the fact that it's a free game.
EDIT: Even if you can't read Japanese you can still enjoy the game, i only have basic knowledge of Japanese and even if i didn't i couldve got around in the game easily.
