Guild Wars 2 / SW the old repub

Yo so along with my new PC that i'm getting soon I'm curious as to who has played either of these games.

No i'm not looking for a comparison. Yes i'm looking for a general overview.
Please try not to compare these games to any other games. I just want your opinion on them so far.

I know the old republic isn't out yet but for those who have tried the beta let me know if it was cool and what parts you personally found attractive or un-appealing.

TOR is utter shit. Has anyone else played the beta? It looks and feels very dated. The only pro is that it has voice acting, which isn't that impressive, especially when the gameplay is shit. I found none of it attractive, and all of it unappealing.

I have a raging boner for GW2, though I haven't gotten my hands on it. It looks quite good from what I've seen though.

I extremely biased when It comes to Starwars. I think anything they churn out is gold. Except Greedo shooting first. That shit's gash. Not a fan of the Gears franchise though.

I've heard very good things about it but i think it's all been from Starwars fanboys....
can you go more in depth about it? Have you ever play KOTOR? I or II?
How were the balances between the classes? How can a sith or jedi lose to a bounty hunter?
Were the controls simply goofy? I'd be playing it on a keyboard and mouse.

I only played TOR for 1 day (I'm not in the beta, a friend of mine is). Controls were pretty standard MMO controls, but it felt way too much like a reskinned version of WoW. And it's nothing like KotOR, the only thing they have in common is the Star Wars label.

Almost all quests were mundane fetch quests. The class-specific quests were mildly interesting, but I've been told that they make up a very tiny portion of the quests (in the beta it seems more significant, I suppose because you're only playing the early levels).

The game as a whole honestly feels like this: BioWare played vanilla WoW, thought it was the best thing ever, threw lightsabers into it and called it a new game. I suppose if you're crazy about WoW you might be into it, but at that point just keep playing WoW.

alright thanks for the info. If a demo is available i'll give it a swing but otherwise I think i'll just start off with Guild Wars 2..
I'm tired of the WoW scene and guild wars does a solid job making an MMO into a console-like RPG.

Frankly, TOR felt like KOTOR to me more than it did WoW. The dialogue, lore, and the story aspect of the game was engrossing enough to where the game mechanics didn't matter at all. Aside from the story, the second best thing about TOR is the crafting aspect. It was a bit more complex than standard mmo crafting, often relying on other specialties to craft. I was happy with the addition of "reverse engineering", which was essentially breaking up the finished product, and getting some of the raw materials back with a rare chance of a schematic of that item. I was fairly impressed with the beta, overall, but I can't handle another MMO. I'm done with subscriptions.

word for word my impression. May as well keep on playing WoW, the world looks half as inspired as it. Also, space battles may be interesting but come on. Also the worst thing about TOR is also the best, the voice acting, because even the small shitty kill ten rats quests are disguised as voice quests and you gotta sit through the intros for those too.

I don't think it's worth comparing with GW2. GW2 is a next-gen, subcriptionless, dynamic event based game that. It's expected to be really good and genre-defining and also defying

Also I'm the kind of guy who reads every last reddit, watches every sinlge video and just can't get enough of GW2 so I'm pretty informed about the current state of GW2. It's getting an amazing amount of polish, it might mean we're only getting the a game 1 more year from now, but who knows. The 8th and last profession(mesmer) got revealed yesterday, they revealed the 8 classes under the course of roughly 1 and a half year.

Note: I didn't like KOTOR.

TOR is a piece of shit and they ruined a bunch of lore.

Revan and hk47 are low-level dungeon bosses and the exile from kotor 2 was killed a little bit after the game ended.
Also apparently a bunch of kotor2 stuff got retconned out. Basically EA ruined something else.
