I'm thinking of buying a Samsung Chromebook.

Reasons being:

• I need something small/light to take to university with me
• Good battery life
• It's extremly fast. 16gb ssd
• Access to the cloud
• It has 3g so I have constant net access.
• They are cool as fuck
• They don't run on windows.

If you can give me any better suggestions I'll be open to consider them?

Yeah. Any netbook/notebook/desktop/tablet/mobile phone/fridge/PIC/cigarette can access the Internet these days.

The last I heard about Chromebooks were that the machines (especially Samsung's) were solid, but the software wasn't yet up to par. This was back when the Samsung Chromebook was first released though, so I'm not sure if things have improved. I imagine you've looked into it, but if you haven't just a bit of a warning.

Chromebooks are a step back to the days of dumb terminals. Avoid it like the plague. Grab a cheap netbook.

yeah I have always had a hardon for the eee series. I've had three, they all still work. And I know I've bragged about this a bunch of times, but my eee 701 (pretty sure it was the first model of netbook) is still totally useable and functional for school, light coding, and internet/email shit (with a 600 MHz processor, 4GB SSD, and 1 GB ram, and it boots in under 10 seconds).

That said, if this has a 16 GB solid state drive, couldnt you just install another OS over the default chrome? I havent seen any netbooks these days that use strictly solid state disks, so it might be worthwhile still.

There are plenty of models that use SSDs.

I'll also throw in the Acer Aspire One series. Some of them have 8/16GB SSDs, some have up to 320GB HDDs. And either Linux or XP. I loved my Aspire One when I had it, it was built well and functioned beautifully.

I'm now confused. Wikipedia lists several SSD models for the Acer Aspire One, but their web site doesn't. Maybe they're not available in the US or something, I don't know.

So maybe you don't have many SSD netbook options.
