    Re: Rocksmith

I'm torn on Rocksmith. It looks like it'll be a pretty good learning tool, but I haven't really seen more than a second or 2 of gameplay at a time. I'm not sure if I really need to, I'm pretty sure I understand it just fine at this point, but still. I'm sick of the talking heads, I'm not going to buy a game/guitar trainer just because Dave Navarro said it's good.

    Re: Rocksmith

Well, it's gameplay isn't just simple screen cap. It's considerably harder to film people playing the game properly. Also, despite being a ubisoft project it hasn't got much of a hype built around it. Which of course leads to less gameplay.

You're saying it's difficult for Ubisoft to film someone playing a guitar in front of a TV? I'm going to call bullshit on that.

And the lack of hype is exactly why they need to show more.

Has anyone played this yet? I'm going to buy it today unless you assholes have heard nothing but terrible things about it.

    It dropped with almost no fanfare, seems like n1gaf about rhythm based games anymore, except me ;-;

    Re: Rocksmith

A friend of mine has it and he says it's good. From what I've heard, it's great if you're looking for a more fun way to learn the guitar, but not so great if you're looking for the next fun rhythm game.

Been subbed to r/guitar on Reddit and a lot of people there keep saying excellent things. Tempted to get it myself since my guitar practice has been more than lax.

Hmm. This has my interest now. If it's something that can actually help teach me guitar I might buy it. If anyone has more first hand experience with it please post and let us know. Thanks!

    Re: Rocksmith

    its pretty rad, bro

The control style is intuitive, it works as a guitar tuner. Its interesting because your skill level is constantly being gauged by the game, if it sees you consistently able to execute all the skills at a certain level it steps it up to a more intricate version that becomes progressively more like the actual song. The songs themselves are OK at best, only a couple really grabbed me - but I'm into it because even after a couple days I'm noticing an improvement in my ability. Also, I'm starting to build callouses on my finger tips, JUST LIKE A REAL MUSICIAN!

Can't afford it right now. Will buy when I can. It's apparently tons of fun for guitar beginners like me.

Mom: (Attempts to brush Maud's hair with her hands) Listen, I want that long face gone, Mister. You know the drill.
Maud: Yes mom. I'll get the handsaw and tomahawk from the shed.
Mom: Don't forget to set the woodchipper up in the back yard. Is the body already in the bathtub?
Maud: Not yet, still in the trunk. I used that plastic wrap to minimise forensics like you taught me.
Mom: Good boy. Anyway, who'd you finish off this time?
    Maud: Steve.
Mom: Not that Steve from down at the hardware store...
Maud: No, not THAT Steve. You know, that cop Steve who's always taking our pot and smoking it himself.
Mom: Well I'll be! You've sure got us in a pickle this time!
Maud: I got his gun, cuffs and radio and threw them off the bridge on the way home. Fingers are removed but the teeth are still in there.
Mom: Well that's a start, I guess. Now get out to that shed - there's work to be done! Here - take a cookie. I've made a little monkey face out of M&M's just the way you like it.
Maud: Can I have a Dr. Pepper, too?
    Mom: Don't push it.
