yep, they have a lot of work to do on the lighting but it looks pretty promising
They probably barely cared about the lighting. Like they said, they're inventing the technology.
Imagine a game designer using this technology. I used to tell people things will get more HD, and lots of people said that things can't get anymore HD or detailed than they are now. Eventually, maybe after our generation, video games [and CG movies] will be like looking out of a window. And it'll still get better from there.
Awards:
I saw this last night, I'd like to see some footage that's not pre-rendered, because animating that could be incredibly intensive. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in use in 5 years though.
I'd also like to see a pre-rendered video, but they said they're pretty much in hiding so this will probably be all we'll see for a little while![]()
Awards:
They'll want to push it as much as they can, especially any company wishing to get a game running it. Think of the impact it would have for the developers customer base and publicity. Hell if that can be done with some reasonable level of efficiency, and I were a dev, I'd be willing to use the current or new future versions.

I remember them saying they can still use 3DS just with no polygon budget and easily convert it to their technology? Essentially nobody would really have to get used to anything besides what they already know.
It would just take licenses and a bunch of money to convert what they've already done.
Are there public demos of this technology to prove it's real-time?
If not, it's all bullshit and vapourware.

They said the version they had to show had what, 2 shades of shadow? They said they already had more, but still. You want to wait until it's fully developed. I'm sure the thing has tons of issues that need to be ironed out before it's ready for production use.
Pfft, real-time demos? Of course not.
Sound like the water-powered car. Lots of fake videos and claims the inventor is in hiding because the car manufacturers and oil companies are out to kill him.

If that was all polygons and not their "technology" it wouldn't have been that smooth or it wouldn't have rendered that well. Their wires were also detailed as fuck. Sure it'll take years to bring it to the industry, and if they released any more info about it too quickly somebody with Apple's type of mindset and money would certainly steal it. I'm sure they don't have patents yet.

What computer is this being run on? How many of these objects have a physics engine behind them?

I'm just saying. All they're showing off is a big model that does nothing. That would be like me showing off my SWEET FERRARI F40 HOTWHEELS CAR. OMG. IT LOOKS SO FAST. JUST THINK ABOUT HOW FAST IT WILL GO. AND NOW I'LL LEAVE THAT FOR SOMEBODY ELSE TO FIGURE OUT WHILE STILL KEEPING THE COOL LOOK.
