I think so. You take a Ipod Touch and make it bigger and you are done.

I can't believe this is the fucking colossal announcement that every one has speculated over the weeks and months. At no time did I expect it to use the Ipod operating system.

Here is the rundown from Engadget.

• It's not light. It feels pretty weighty in your hand.
• The screen is stunning, and it's 1024 x 768. Feels just like a huge iPhone in your hands.
• The speed of the CPU is something to be marveled at. It is blazingly fast from what we can tell. Webpages loaded up super fast, and scrolling was without a hiccup. Moving into and out of apps was a breeze. Everything flew.
• There's no multitasking at all. It's a real disappointment. All this power and very little you can do with it at once. No multitasking means no streaming Pandora when you're working in Pages... you can figure it out. It's a real setback for this device.
• The ebook implementation is about as close as you can get to reading without a stack of bound paper in your hand. The visual stuff really helps flesh out the experience. It may be just for show, but it counts here.
• No camera. None, nada. Zip. No video conferencing here folks. Hell, it doesn't have an SMS app!
• It's running iPhone OS 3.2.
• The keyboard is good, not great. Not quite as responsive as it looked in the demos.
• No Flash confirmed. So Hulu is out for you, folks!

No multitasking, no flash support, no camera.

I think the first gen was a dropped ball. I do think apple will figure it out but this isn't starting on the right foot.

I love my PS3.. I think Home needs some work and I'd like networked printers supported, I'd like for the whole people management to be set up just a little differently, maybe square it up a little so I can see more at once.. Oh, and I'd like more file formats supported. I like the Netflix business.. I would have added that considering the xbox has had that for a long time.. though my xbox360 has been in a box for 6 months >_>

What are you trying to print from your PS3? I don't think I've ever looked at my PS3 and thought "man, if only it was easier to connect this to my printer!" And Home sucks dick, but it's free and kind of a bonus in my mind, though I just deleted it a couple days ago.

I only use my PS3 as a game console and a DVD/Blu-ray player though, so for those purposes I have pretty much no complaints.

It was a big let down. I certainly wouldn't buy one unless certain improvements are made - multitasking, flash support in Safari, and pen input along side touch input. This isn't gonna penetrate the tablet market. It's only going to marginally penetrate the e-book market.

Did they ever explicitly say there won't be Flash support? I know things didn't render during the demo, but if they didn't say anything, Flash support could change. But yeah, not being able to multitask was an incredibly poor decision that relegates it to the realm of e-book readers and crazed fanboys.

Quite simple really, Apple saw that people were buying a kindle - looked around for anything they had to compete, and came up with nothing.
So he grabbed the only thing he had that was slightly innovative - made it bigger, slapped a huge price tag on it, made one new app (iWork) and then removed all the expansion slots a NORMAL device would include for free and will charge 100$ for storage upgrades.

because for some reason when you use memory at Apple, it costs you 4-10 times the going market rate.
