New to the forum world here, but how do you get or give reputation points to other members? Thanks!

Reputation is a way of members knowing who is a good member and who is not. Your reputation plays an important role, as it can control what you have access to. If you have negative reputation, you will not be upgraded and you will not see the rest of the boards. In fact, you need a certain amount of positive reputation to get access, as well. When you are on probation, you can receive reputation, but you may not give out reputation. You give/take somebody's reputation by clicking on the yellow(+) symbol in the info area(bottom left) of their post.

The amount of reputation points you receive depends on the member who repped you. For instance, my power is 45. If I positive rep you, your reputation will increase by 45 reputation points. If I negative rep you, it will decrease by half my power. If you want to check your reputation, click on the 'User CP' link on the navigation bar. You will see a section labeled 'Latest Reputation Received', and on the right side it will show your points.

Please keep in mind to read all of the sticky threads, and everything in the Announcements area. It is important for you to know all of the rules, and how a forum works. When you have read the rules, and the information that is most important to know, please feel free to introduce yourself by making a thread in the 1337 REGiSTER area. Make sure to leave details such as your interests, how you found 1337.com, and anything else you would like to add.
