CNN has holograms

Amongst all of the bad news presented on this night of 4 November, I couldn't help but be totally awed by CNN's hologram technology.

First, they manage to project an accurate image of the U.S. Capital to show House and Senate seats as well as show images of Senators and Congressman up for re-election. It looks like something done with special camera effects in post production, but it was real time.

Then, they manage to beam different people into their studio in New York through hologram and have an interview with someone in Chicago with their entire 360 degree figure being projected into CNN's election center in New York.


We are getting closer and closer to the Star Trek age. Anyone care to discuss?

35 high definition cameras are used in a circle around the reporter. Pretty cool.

It's cool but still a bit of a let-down when you realise that the news presenter can't actually see anything and is talking to thin air.
