Run away...

Basically the ending goes like this:

You take-off in what's called the "Arc" which controlls all the Halo installations from the Covenant city (I think). You slip-stream and then arrive at Earth's orbit. That Captain guy you meet at the beginning of the game asks: "Master Chief, what the hell are you doing on that unidentified spacecraft?". Master Chief replies "Ending this war.". And that's it. No explosion, blood, guts, or grenades. I've also heard rumours of a Halo 3 from some of my friends so I dunno if that's really a smart move.

Well, there ya go...that was the ending.

There will be a Halo 3. I never doubted that. Even months ago I thought there would be a 3rd.

You can expect it won't be out until the new Xbox though. This one should be filtered out in the next year and a half at most, I say.

The ending was very abrupt and sudden. I didn't even know I was fighting the boss character, I just figured he was some tough guy in my way.

chordie, thanks foir editing that! I was thinking to myself all day about what happens if I screwup someone's day by giving them the ending...but you beat me to it, thanks!

Halo 3...hmmmm...I have almost/temporarily lost respect for Halo. That's too bad, I think they're stretching it too far...but I agree at the same time, since a game of this magnitude needs to go on to develope a stronger plot or just to provide the important details. Although I can't imagine what the 3rd will be like...

Half-Life 2 has an equally lame half-assed ending. Like NO questions are answered through the whole game. Yet, those credits are oh-so-satisfying.

they should make 'fall of reach' into a game or a movie

THANK YOU!!! Finally, someone who agrees! Reading those books was like eating candy for a week. A movie would definately attract all the fans and if they knew anything about marketing interests, they'd do it. Renders, actors, who cares! The plot in the books is more than twice as interesting than the games.

So many tactical strategies, theories, knowledge...Keys was a hell of a good strategist as depicted by Eric Nyuland in his books. Ah well, I hope they do something of the like. Like instead of making a 3rd game, they make a movie to end it! THAT would be sweeeet! 8)

Microsoft's talking about a Halo 2.5, which means that this wasn't the real ending of Halo 2, even though Halo 2's story pretty much sucked compared to the first one. They're saying 2.5 is going to be a launch title for Xbox Next (A.K.A. Xbox 2, A.K.A. Nextbox, I prefer Nextbox), which I'm still not buying...

Oh, by the way, one of my old friends is actually writing the next book! His name's AJ Reiser... I forgot the title of the book, but if anyone wants it, I have a copy of the first chapter.

There are 7 halos. Master chief does not get shot in the head.

the halo ending simply implies that the UNSC will be looking for the Ark, which controls all of the Installations of the Forerunners. Naturally the Covenant will be there first.

Although there is a rumor that the Arbiter and the Master Chief can be played side-by-side in a Co-op mode.

Of course there wont be 7 halos. However, there are in the games. Not saying that there will be one game for each Installation.

Although this may seema little weird, I found Halo 2's ending somewhat interesting. Sure, it ends on a cliffhanger, leaving us not much to work with. As far as I can tell, This "Final Battle " may indeed be the first level. I would expect there to be a backstory or even go with the ARbiter for a good while, but we will see.

i found it to be annoying, but i'm for sure getting halo 3, that's all i'm saying........ i hope it isn't such a letdown, like halo 2 was.... i mean, it's still good, but i liked halo 1 more

ya me too i mean halo 2 is better than halo because of the on line play is better with live, also all halo had was system link. Now they have the hole live thing for halo 2. But if you try to compare story line's then halo has a better story line.............that all :)

uh..halo was better all around. halo 2 sucks, theres too much shadowing and too much detail. it doesnt feel like tyour even in the game like halo did.

If you've ever read "the fall of reach", you'd know otherwise. That came before halo one, besides, the covenant havdn't found earth until halo 2. I don't even have an xbox and I know that!

It's not that there are going to be 7 Halo's, but there are 7 in the game, all of them on standby and ready to be remote activated from the "ark" which presumably, is on Earth. In my opinion, Halo 2 end where it should have started, which MC fighting it out on Earth. Instead of spending two short, piss poor levels blowing up a Scarab. Also, the books aren't 100% true, Bungie said themselves that the author took some creative license when writing them, like with the fact that some Spartans or still alive or the Covenant finding Earth. They didn't even know it was where it was in Halo 2, they just bumped into it. You need to play the game to know that.

Yeah, but the first book isn't proved to be wrong, since the first halo starts right where it leaves off.
