I need not need him say more.
AMD is cheaper and is of good quality. I'm making my friend's PC and it's costing him $225 more for a P4 HT processor, that is pretty much the same to my OCed AMD XP2800...oh, what, his is 3.2GHz and mine is 2.4GHz? So? That doesn't matter...what matters is stability. And AMD may make a lot of heat, but my 8-fans drain that all away. Plus, when winter comes, I'm nice and toasty. :D

AMD, no doubt about it. both cheaper and faster than Pentiums.

i like intel. i had heat probs with amd and they crash on me a lot. intels run cooler and faster. and i have had less errors with heat with intel. i have an intel p3 1 ghz and overclocked it and i need not to add a fan for it pwnz with coolness.

AMD, I'm a nerd and i have to overclock everything on my PC :D ... for overclocking i reckon AMD is easier.... however like Avarik said.... INTEL still have superiority when it comes to video editing. (I have 2 PC's, Penium 4 3.2 < my video editing PC. And my AMD 64bit 3400 <my gaming PC)

That's because, for some odd reason, all older models of the AMD really sucked! I have a 3-year old AMD (no clue what type) and it sucks. It made me HATE AMD! I checked it out, talked with ppl, and they flipped when I mentioned I hated AMD...and now, I've got one. Could NOT be happier! :)

Cudos huntah, cudos! Nice setup yous got there...specializing different PCs for what they do best...pretty smart! I'd do that but...you know...moneyh...

yeh True :D
the AMD really cant handle what i need to do, so i saved, and saved, and save, and saved... then spent a bit, then saved and saved and saved :D then got my P4 rig.
(note: not really, but i still had to save for 3 weeks :D)

yah just yesterday i got a computer i was fixin up for my cousin and it had an amd k-6 500 mhz. decent cooling no over clocking. i had to stick a bigger fan then what it came with on it. and add another case fan for it to stop freezing. it was HOT. i dunno. mabe it is just my luck but amd's never worked for me. i love my intels with my intel chipset and my ati radeon card. and just as you i nthink of ati is best with amd and the sutch. but i don care. whatever i belive is better is what i get.

Buddy, I feel you. Here are all the fans on MY AMD system:
2 LED Fans - Top and Side of case
1 Normal Fan - Rear of Case...next to teh PS fan
1 CPU Fan - Official AMD fan...but getting a Speeze blue LED one soon.
2 HDD Fans - A pair of 80mm fans attached directly to the bottom of the hard drive.
Ooo...and a 420W PS to run it all...
So...in total, I have SIX fans! My average mobo temp is 32C and CPU is 51C. I'm still gonna get a bay freezer and a PCI dual-60mm-LED fan set to cool it off more. And you'd be surprised how NOT-loud my system is!

I like AMD because it is cheaper (64 3200+ for ~200) which is awesome and the top of the line fx-55 pwns intels HT technology. if you dont know what CPU you have you can d-load CPU-z, search it on google. 64 bit processors are the shit. its amazing, really, really good performance.

Exactly. Intel is also the best quality. They dont break.
However the AMD chips are just so much better now. Prices are unbelievable compared to their Intel counterparts.

err... actually, nowhere close
hypertransport refers to the link between an A64's internal memory controller and the memory
hyperthreading is a technology that creates multiple virtual threads so that multitasking can be done more effeciently. (if you boot some versions of linux, they will report multiple processors in P4 chips with hyperthreading)
I am personally an AMD fan, but Intel processors definately do some things better. and you really have to give Intel props for getting us this far. up until the first Athlon processors, all AMD chips were almost 100% reverse engineered Intel chips. the Athlons were the first line of cores that weren't practically replicas of Intel cores and utilized their own design and technology. even then the AMD chips still couldnt keep up with the fastest Intel chips. the 64-bit line is really the first time that AMD has ever been in any way (other than price) ahead of Intel. and it doesnt help that intel is digging themselves a deeper hole with these extremely hot prescott cores and a total platform change with neglegible performance increase...
the one area where Intel really leads hands-down is in the mobile field. its new Dothan cores are beasts with 2mb L2 Cache and run at low voltage and surprisingly low clock rates, compared to desktop P4 chips (1.5-2.1Ghz), but still offer a substantial amount of performance.
Btw... i dunno why you guys need so many fans... i have 2x 120mm case fans, a zalman 7000 series cooler, and a 520watt vantec psu w/ 3 fans.

I don't really care, what processor is better.
What ever gets the job done.
But Pentium has beem obsolete, since the 64 bit amd came out.

I had 5 fans with my AMD setup. ASUS NVIDIA Nforce Motherboard with my 2200+ XP Quad, trouble is the two fans on the back of the case flew off... odd I know...
I've been with AMD since i built my first system quite a few years ago using a K5 450 chip. And that was the shiz back then heh.
And I'm a sucker for nVidia (don't flame me) I just haven't had a problem with them and I haven't really brought a decent done for ages so It hasn't concerned me. i can play any game that comes out and so I don't care :D
And my system is cool enough with just the 3 fans running now after the two others flew off...
