the PSP has the hardcore hardware, but Nintendo has always been one for innovation and suprise. I think the DS will gross more sales purely on gimmick. It will be an interesting matchup for sure.

The 2x screen looks kinda cool but if you have to touch it to shoot it will be really lame.

Yeah, I always prefer a good croshair and a button. I'm sure if they do make it touch-shoot the beta groups will piss and moan enough to get it changed. Plus, it will feel too much like a PDA. WE can only wait.
Topic=hijacked

I can fix this hijackedness.
Also, ya, I dont need a Mario PDA. What im really looking at on the new hand held war will be the wireless gaming capability.

There is one main reason why the DS Will pwnz the PSP. What is it? The DS ALREADY has an UNBEATABLE library of HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of games. GB, GBC and GBA are all compatible through the GBA Port on the DS.
After that you have to remember touch screen technology, chatting abilities, possibilities that come with two screens, etc. However, the graphics may be a little less than the PSP's, this handheld will surly make up for it in it's classic titles.
In the end, DS>PSP. Period.

Reveres compatible eh? I keep hearing that the DS IS NOT another Game Boy. It is a whole nother line. Im sure you can chat on the PSP too. As for a touch screen I dont think it has one but it dose have a control stick. Easy selecting.

Yeah, wireless multiplayer - 1337n355. Lets not forget that nintendo was into this technology even before GBA, the Gameboy Color had an infared connector thingy. If I had the cash I would probably buy both, but If push comes to shove, I will probably play the Nintendo Fanboy card and go with DS. Then again I mignt not get a handheld anyway.

The DS will of course out sell the PSP at the start due to its extremely large library of games, the xbox was put down for its hardware and price the PS2 and gamecube owned it in selling, but now The Xbox is on top gamecube is only rising in sales due to its cheapness and lowering of price and the little kids love it (no offense to older people wo have it and love it) but Gamecubes main target is kids and the DS is being mainly targeted to the younger people and some of the older. ok back on topic the PSP will do great once it gets a good library of games I want to buy one! I cant wait to see what developers will do with the Dual screens hopefully this is not technology ahead of its time like the Sega Game gear and Dreamcast were

I dont think it is ahead of it's time, somewhat forewarde thinking but it looks easy enough to use and that is the line where technology becomes to much of a burden for the present thinker.

Im just wondering but in my game informer magazine from a couple months ago, they mentioned 2 new handhelds systems the N Gage and the Tapwave Zodiac and both are supposed to be on sale yet i have not seen much popularity of them I have never seen anyone with a Ngage and have never seen the Tapwave Zodiac did these 2 systems already fail to compete with the Gameboy? and are they supposed to be serious competitors towards the DS and PSP?? :? cause there graphics suXorz.

am I the only one here interested in the PSP for something other than a gaming system? MP3 player, Movies, Wireless Connectivity, and Games... that's everything i'm interested in with the PSP. I haven't read up much about the DS but will it be able to offer my MP3 playback along with the use of any sized memory card I wish to use that I can also use on my computer? I think Sony hit the nail on the head using the Sony Memstick as a storage media, you can throw crap on there from your PC and pull up on the PSP... totally bitching, get a 2g flashcard and you shall be set :D just imaging... all the pr0n you want on the go!!!! w00t!!!!!11!!11!!!! lol

There are side benifits, but the handnhelds are primarily, gaming machines and will be rated as such, Extra frills are fun but what counts is what you bought it for, and belive me, you wouldnt buy that item to play mp3s and movies when you can get a better device for a fraction of the price for the specified needs.

I think the developers are gonna have a hard time making any good use of the DS i have enough trouble looking at my radar while trying to play the game at the same time i cant think of any real good use for the DS i mean having the map displayed on the screen is a good idea but does it really require a whole nother screen to display it?? Anyone have any idea what 2nd screen could be used for? :?

SuPeR_n00b, you obviously don't know that the DS has online capabilities. Such abilities are being used in Animal Crossing DS(Online community ^_^). Now, think of it like this:
Top Screen: Game
Bottem Screen: CHAT
It gives you more room to see what you're doing and may even provide a cooler chat system.
Now, lets look at the possibilities with MegaMan Battle Network DS:
Top Screen: Lan in the real world
Bottem screen: MegaMan.EXE in the cyber world

I agree, I don't think it will be a problem figuring out how to use the bottom screen. It may at first be a hassle for the developers but I'm sure plenty already have ideas, and with all the focus groups and such the bottom screen will be used to its fullest ability. Let the programmers worry about it, you worry about saving up the green to buy it when it comes out.

The PSP qill be great, but, as someone said before, the batteries will run out during maybe a movie or something, i mean, most movies are only 2 hours long. And the batteries must last like only that long.

Of course DS will sell out to PSP first but when people read the reviews and find out the PSP is ACTUALLY the preffered choice of handheld. I mean cummon yeah nintendo have more experience when it comes to handheld gaming, but sooooo what!!!! Think GTA: Vice City PLAYING IT IN YOUR FRIGGING CAR!!!

Keep in mind batteries are becoming more powerfull and stronger by the day. Ten years ago a video camera with a battery as big as a telephone only lasted 15 minutes. Now with lithium ion batteries you can play, listen and watch for numerous hours without recharging. My mp3 player has over 20 hrs listening with about a half hr charging. I think only one word can describe that feeling:
