Should we bring back national service? i think we should. We would have less yobs and kids trolling street corners at night if it was mandatory to do 2 months of basic training after you leave school. it would teach this filth that rob old women while they are sleeping and go around "happy slapping" some discipline and manners.

Hmm I disagree. The armed forces isn't everybody's cup of tea. Instead I think an alternative eg. helping out in the community could be used if people didn't want ot go into the forces.

Well everybody that goes to jail or commits a certain crime usually ends with community service but most of them dont go to community service when their assigned to.

It would never work though, because there are too many people in this country who would veiw this as a way the government would be controlling the people, and there would be riots and everything and it would be a VERY big deal. There are too many people in this country that think that the government is slowly taking complete control, this would push them too far.

In serbia we were putting together rifles, and taking them apart in the 4th grade, and by the time you hit 18 you would serve a mandatory year in the serbian military ^_^

That's an interesting idea, but not only would people have a bad reaction to it, it would be ridiculously expensive, and the government is already in quite a bit of debt and doing some serious deficit spending. It's just not practical.

This would be the dumbest fucking thing to do. We pride ourselves on freedom yet every day we are forced to comply with societal norms that are anything byt free.

Forcing us to join the military would indefinatly lose any shred of personal freedom we may have.

i dont think it a really bad idea but not really a good one ether because you def would lose some freedom but also prob would help some people s=who could use some guidence.
