Yeah, I would for sure. The "Who" and the "Why" wont matter until you get upgraded and can read the "Emergency Dept."

I would, but I guess I don't know not ever being in that position. There are a few mates I'd go to the grave for, my girlfriend and of course my mum :)

I might, but in most scenarios where you let them live and you die, it's mostly organ transplants etc, and most of my friends would tell me to fuck off and let them wait for another compatible donor.
If it's something like "***** is going to die, sacrifice yourself for them?", I'd say no.

I would only do it for 3 people, the first being, of coarse, my mom. She brought me into the world and for that, I owe her. Second person being Chuckie, a very good friend. Him and I went through a lot together and he's the only friend I seriously trust. Third would be Sara, my ex fiance, Her and I just broke up a week ago but I still love her and would do anything for her.

I would gladly give my life for my country (not USA :P), my family, and the woman that I love.

I'd think it would depend a lot on the circumstances.
It really is hard to say if you would or would not, the closest I can say is that I hope. So, as Tzar said, I hope I would.
I hope I would do it for many of my friends and my biological family.
But of course I'd look for a way to save everyone first, rushing headlong in to sacrifice yourself wouldn't be a very good first choice.

For my mother, I would definately give my life for her. I doubt that I would give my life for my country (it's making me pretty mad right now), but I would give it for the one I love.
Eyvind, couldn't of said it better.

Fuck no. The most important life is your own.
You will never succed if you are a little bitch. Not to be confused with sucking up.

The thing is that i dont know how i would feel if some one died and i did not do anything about it... something i was that many of you said that you would give your life for your mother, now the thing that i have to further think about is that how would that person feel would you really want to put that person through that?

You know, I don't want to die. But if it came down to an extreme situation - I'd totally die to save people. Although this isn't one of those classic girlfriend-question situations; if I were caught up in a hostage situation - I would try and get myself to be held the longest. Or I'd try and get the others to rebel.

January 21st, 2006, 07:44 PM
There is no doubt in my mind that I would give my life for my fiancee. I would do anything for her.
Aside from that, I think if it came to a hostage situation as above. I wouldn't go out of my way to not die. I'd probably be the distraction for everyone to jump the bastard holding us.

I don't give a damn about my country anymore. America sucks, and I'm sticking with that mindset.
To be honest, if you would ask me that question, at first, I'd say no. But a person will find that if something really does matter to them, and if they're enough of an idiot(which we all are at heart), they'd sacrifice themselves. I'd probably do it under the rush of adrenaline, or when I can't think straight. But really, in the end, sacrifice is a last resort. Waisting one life for another isn't a gain, it's always a loss.
I'm not ready to sacrifice my life anyway. I'm still a freaking teenager. When I've done my time, THEN I'll actually consider it. Hell, if I was a parent, I'd definitely sacrifice my life for my kids.
..thank god I'm not though -_-'.

Keep in mind that if you give up your life for someone else, then that person will have to live with the eternal guilt and feeling of debt to you due to your sacrifice. If someone gave up their life for mine, I don't know if I'd be able to live up to that fact. I'd have the constant feeling that the person who killed themselves for me would have done more with their lives than I with mine. I'm not sure if I'd ever be happy knowing that. The feeling of guilt would probably get to me.
So the question is, would you want to put a loved one in that position or state of mind?
Also, suppose you were put in a situation where you had to make this choice of sacrifice. A spur of the moment thing. you definitely wouldn't have the chance to think it over like this. You'd act on impulse, and wouldn't have such time to ponder. Therefore, you could think this choice over all you want now, but it doesn't mean shit when an event like this happens. That is if you act at all. Remember, easier said than done. Jumping into a bullet or something to that effect isn't something you can do without hesitation.
EDIT: Ah, Tzar said something to the effect of what I said up there.

This country is so fucked up I wouldn't give my life for it.
However, I would give my life for my mom... not sure about my dad. hes gonna drop in a few years so it would be a waste. I love him and all, at least as much as my mom, but since hes gonna die in a few years... whats the point?
Seeing as I recently told this bitch off, I wouldn't die for her.
So basically that leaves my mom. And that one is iffy.
So the question is, would you want to put a loved one in that position or state of mind?
Good point.
I probably wouldn't do it with my mom... she would go nuts.
She freaked out when i got stung by a bee instead of her... LOL
If I had kids, I would definately do it for them, and I would probably do it for my wife.
Thats the job of the husband, to protect her.

Yea, our country is really fucked up right now. (assuming your talking about U.S.) I enlisted in the army when I was 17, had my dad sign for it. Some 8 months later, just after 9-11, I was on my way home from base, everything I had there along with my final papers. I was lucky. Since 9-11 and electing bush, America went down shit hill real fast.

That's true, but knowing someone died when you could've taken their place will make you feel worse than if they willingly died for you.
Who would feel worse? The lover who saw his loved one die when he could've let him/her live at the cost of his/her own life, or the loved whom his loved one sacrificed himself for?
I'd rather have them live with guilt than not live at all.

the U.S. is suprisingly not fucked up - you still have gd running water and electricity, the Gestapo arent burning houses yet, so whats to complain about? people arent dying of diseases faster than they are in africa. Although your govt. is in debt, you still afford the luxuries that developing countries do not have. Your army is fighting for freedom (we think?) and not dying senslessly (see cold war)
you are actually better off than those who fought and lived before you - the fact is media coverage wasnt as great back then (see gay politicials and whorehouses)

Hey, if they live with guilt, you wouldn't know, you're dead. If I were to die for somebody else to live I would hope that they know I made that decision so that they could live, there is no guilt to be had, my decision, my life to do that with. But people are stupid and would be guilty anyway.

none the less america is not in the worst shape its not in the best shape eather, most americans dont have to deal with stavation or being ass raped in a terroest cave they have to deal with other things gangs, goverment, every body hating them
but back on topic as i said befor i hope that i could give my life for someone close to me.. but i have no idea how i would react in that situation and it is most likely that you wouldent have time to think about it
the other thing is that i know i have had a good life and i dot think that i will change the world much in my life in at all... so in my minde the other pesons life is most likely worth more than mine

Yeah, you're right about the water and electrity. Yes, we've managed to stay alive and away from disease for the most part. But our country is an illusion, dear the.doctor. Our soldiers aren't fighting for freedom, they're fighting for surivival. I don't even know why we're still IN Iraq. The entire operation went on further than we'd have hoped for it to go.
Now I hear about not only soldiers, but engineers, contruction workers, teachers, the whole sort, out there in Iraq. Soldiers are trained to fight and are willing to risk losing thier lives, that much I understand. But people that have never even seen the field of combat? They're more likely to die there than to die of cancer!
And lets not forget the environmental problems we're having. Add that to the fact that the people seem to have no real control in the government and essentially, you have our situation. Oh, and yes, we are in debt. China will soon become our new workforce so start taking courses in Chinese, everyone(I heard they can be hell).
Yep... everything is okay now, but if nothing is done, it's gonna get a whole lot worse...
Edit: We should make another thread on how much America rocks/sucks. This isn't the place to argue.

... really? Those spy planes that were shot down, nobody were killed in those? And what about those things we call "The Korean war" and "The Vietnam 'police action'"? Nobody died? Oh, I see, "That wasn't the cold war". Becuase the cold war was only against the Soviet Union right? Wrong. The Cold war was the 1950's-70's version of the War on Terror, only it was the War on Communism.

Of the U.S. military, 58,226 were killed in action or classified as missing in action. A further 153,303 US military personnel were wounded to give total casualties of 211,529. The United States Army took the majority of the casualties with 38,179 killed and 96,802 wounded; the Marine Corps lost 14,836 killed and 51,392 wounded; the Navy 2,556 and 4,178; with the Air Force suffering the lowest casualties both in numbers and percentage terms with 2,580 killed and 931 wounded.

My family, I'd do, but hesitantly. I love them, but don't really care for them, if you know what I mean. My friends, I'd do without question, I love my friends and care for them way to much. I don't think most of them would want me to, but I would probably do it. And definitely my girlfriend......
But yeah, having never actually been in that position, I can't really say that I know I would do it. I'd like to think I would, but I don't really KNOW, so.....
