...but I recently set-up my own phpBB, and I wanted to know how you limited the noobs to just this section. Hope you can tell me soon.

Probably have to set up usergroups and permissions. So for instance most of the forums here would be set to a only allow a certain usergroup that has to be assigned, that newbies dont get by default. I assume it's the same to smf and yabb assuming it has the same functionality without plugins and stuff.

i doubt that helps, but my smf board works as described above.

Ok then, but I can't seem to make the 'advanced' once hidden from noob view...I've had to lock it for now.
