Apparently, Guildwars is releasing on the 27th of this month. Oh how long it's been since I've last played that great game. If you love MMORPGs and you love cheap (no much money); this is the MMORPG for you. This game has NO MONTHLY FEES! It's a fairly decent MMO and what it lacks in class versatilty (only 3 -4 classes I believe) it certainly makes up for in creativity and graphics. The first alpha trial for 3 days of this game occured quite a bit before WoW was ever announced, I believe. There are some pretty nifty skills too, and as far as I know, it really takes alot of skill. Before doing quests, you must get a team together, along with the 8 skills (I think) that you wish to use. There are monks (priests), rangers (archers), warriors, Messmers (Illusionist), and necromancers. Also, a great benefit from preordering! Depending on where you preorder, you get a free unique item for your character; EB has a Bow and I can't remember all the others (Interested in ranger gear alone lol).

Yeah... I've looked it up, and I really want it. But the thing about it is... the monthly fee thing may not be free... I've heard rumors, so I'm skeptic of buying it.

They had told everyone back in the Alpha preview and the Beta preview. All games have their rumors to try and cut them down; you would have heard about it on their site by now if they planned on it.

I downloaded the Alpha or Beta W/E, and right after I finished DL'ing and Installing the 3 day Beta Stopped and it pissed me the hell off lol. I looks VERY kool, the screenshots look nice also..

Looks like a hack and slash, when you watch the gameplay reviews there is like 2 spells and the rest is slash..slash...block...slash..slash...EXP!

I actually find myself relying heavily on my spells. I have a Necromancer/Monk and can do a sizable amount of damage with just the wands and staffs. However spells can mean the difference between completing the quests or walking around with a -%60 death penalty.

Even Warriors who use their skills could easily whoop someone who just attacks normally. It?s a lot like Magic the Gathering in a way that choosing the right spells for either PvP or Co-op can determine the outcome. It cretinly has more depth in terms of combat than your typical MMORPG

I thought it relied HIGHLY on party members and there was MUCH enphasiss.. on playing with a party.. but that might have been EQ2...

A few months ago, someone I knew online was telling me all the modifications to make to my computer, so I could play this game and join his clan. He had all this planned out, MONTHS BEFORE THE GAME RELEASED.

Sorry, just thought I'd mention that. Obsessive people scare me.

But once my new video card gets here, I'll actually be able to play the game. Yaygasm. Hopefully I don't run into Clan Boy.

since he is obsessive, he will probably be playing, and since he plays all the time, you will most likely run into him sometime, thus he will harass you until you join his guild.

You be a low level, aye? My Ranger has like 7 Marksmanship, 7 Expertise, 2 Smiting, and 3 Beast mastery

And that's at level 13.

I'd say that a W/N sounds alot better than a damned W/Mo or a Me/Anything

W/N has the ability to sap life, resurect nice little pets (which would work great with Ranger's pets too) And I'm betting that most people don't want to waste their secondary on Mo just because they don't want to rely on a Henchman, which my R/Mo did up until Ruins of Surmia. Monk henchman are badass if you protect them; my R/Mo always went with 3 hanchman and my Stalker which is about a half a level behind me

Fighter,Mage, and Monk henchman grouped with a R/Mo are nice for quite some time, then you gotta party and it isn't so bad unless you aren't waiting up for your party and the sort.

Guildwars beta events have been going for like a year before it was released. If anything is the knockoff, its WoW.

Plus guildwars ISNT pay per month. Blizzard are a good company but them jumping on the "screw our customers every month" bandwagon loses all my respect.

When i buy a game, i expect to be able to play it. Not Pay to play a game i already own.

exactly. WoW makes you pay $50.00 just to buy the game. then they make you pay 14 MORE dollars per month. so, pretty much, in 4 months you pay as much as you did to buy the game in the first place.

I participated in the Beta, and in all honesty, I didn't like the game, it just seems to recycle the formula, though it adds some pretty interesting elements, it loses alot of what made games like Ultima Online so addictive, when will MMORPG's YET AGAIN GIVE US THE OPTION TO OWN A HOUSE, or a BOAT?? Oh well.

I didnt dig Guild Wars, but I think that's because I wish current MMORPG's did everything that Ultima Online did. How awesome (and annoying) was it not being able to cross a particular bridge because there was some asshole with three billygoats blocking it and killing anyone who dare tread beyond? These days everything is all wussy. Boo.
