What would happen if the human race developed the technology to connect to computer through neurological implants? would this neccessarily be good.. or bad, some reasons for and against would be nice

Well I'm all for using technology to advance humans because really it seems more like we are going backwards instead of forwards (evolutionarily). Its not like a little (or alot in 99% of peoples cases) extra brain power would hurt. I'm sure if that technology ever becomes viable it will be easy to make one that would be safe.

Now this just seems like a lesser part of using technology to make people better. For instance you could make a machine that enhances someones strength (like those leg things the guy on Dark Angel* had) or to help a blind person see, ect. Of course from this you'd get people who didn't need to use them using them to make themselves better.

But anyways that seems to be a bit off topic :P. Just thought the question could be a bit broader.

We would probably kill ourselves. I mean think about it, the processing power of the brain.. we'd all end up speeding everything up so much, we speed up our own deaths, and thus ends civilization..

Except the Amish, they would be the only ones left.

This doesn't sound terribly bad to me.
Using it, we would have instant access to a broad range of info, be able to talk to people miles away without cell phones maybe, the possibilities are endless.
Adolf Hitler was actually trying to do this. He wanted to put chips in people's brains. I don't remember exactly what for.
Some bad things about it would be the side affects. The chances of this interfering with our brain waves, neural pathways, and natural magnetic field are high. What if the chip malfunctioned? What would happen to that person? There's too much chance for error.
Something like this would be so far in the future anyways.

Incorrect. And before you spout out what you think you know, make sure you know what you're talking about. ^_^

Ontopic: If it's used only to make the life better for all the human race then it's good. but it shouldn't wonder me if somekind of mafia or something abuses it for their own good and bankaccount. So let's make sure there's no (or atleast few) bad groups of people in the world first (including stupid presidents :D )

Unless there was a way to completely regulate the use of this technology, there is so much bad that could come of it. Could you imagine if there was a group who could completely coordinate all of their actions? They would be able to plan strikes on any target with such precision the target would be dead before anyone knew what happened.

Adolf Hitler experimented on Jews (mostly) to test the benefits of mind control and possible brainwashing. Nothing good or productive ever really came of these experiments, and microchips were not even conceptualized in the late 30's and early 40's of WWII.

e-lovin' would have all new meaning. I think there was some program on once upon a time.. I vaguely recall there being some woman going on about how people are finding 'love' on the internets more and more, so 'cyber sex' has become a factor, and 'internet dating', so technology is going to try and find more and more ways to make this more and more 'enjoyable'.

Yeah.. if I actually DO turn on the television, I turn it on for the noise, and when I look up two hours later I'm watching some weird stuff. Anyway, I imagine if they did that, they'd find some way for people to be enjoyin' the e-sexin' more. But I don't know. Personally, I think technology's becoming pretty invasive and I'm not really up for them implanting things into people. Before you know it we'll be having little chips stuck into us at birth that control/enhance/inhibit our neurological functions.

Which now reminds me of something Inga Muscio brought up in her book "cunt". She said the scientific world is getting pretty scary and just imagine what scientists could do. One day they might even figure out a way to implant a device that would control the movements of women's hips (and not for any scientific reasons for sure.) Science is a scary thought..

I've done my research on this subject, thank you. And implementing chips into brains, is false and rofl.

Imho, having a chip implanted in me to enhance/desensitize neurological stimuli is way to cyborgesqe and fucking scares me. We would develop into two types of species based upon wealth. The wealthy would become these superhumans while the poor stay human.

Why isn't anybody pondering that? ^^^^
Anyways...
I think it's OK if it doesn't mess with the people themselves. It would be like a little computer in your brain. What about hackers though?!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH
I don't know, it'd be abused too much. I don't think it's a good idea. They're developing little watches that are basically mini-computers, they're pretty awesome.

slevin i have no idea either...and they wouldn't do this no way, they are having debates over stem cells research is this is way more controversial hahahahaha i just thought about this...what if the chips ran on Microsoft...aw fuck lol!!

I remember wathing on TV a while back about a machine that was attached to the human brain and they could move the mouse on a computer screen by thinking of certain things. I dont remember much on it but I feel that it could really help mankind but will probally have serious drawbacks in the begining.
It will probally be quite dangerous, but im still for it.

Sure. These chips would not be cheap. Therefore the rich would be the ones able to aquire them. With the advantages they aquire with the chips implanted they would definately become stronger than a normal person, mentally and physically. The ability to hinder or release neurotransmitters in specific times, that can be programmed into this chip. Imagine the ability to "download" information, similar to the matrix, or "upload and remove unpleasent memories. This would give the rich a huge advantage over the poor who can't afford these chips.

The results could be disasterous as well. The MIND would be left open to hackers. Regardless of security, becasue now the newest forms of hacking can just be dowloaded directly into your mind. The chances are just way too great.

Yeah, some weirdo had the idea to help kids who have problems with motor skills to play video games. They developed a chip that they can attach to the brain so they can play the game just by thinking.
