I know some of you leets out there have got to be into this. I'm just starting out, I bought a 'value' pack up at Wally World with my friend and everything totaled just under $80 to be ready to shoot. I just want to learn a little more about the guns and what to use and what to stay away from. I picked up a 9oz. tank when I first bought everything. The next day I went out early with my friend just to test the guns out and it was about 30ish outside. After a good 10 minutes of just shootin' around his gun kind of froze over and started shooting like it was full automatic (it wouldn't cock after every shot). That's when we called it a day and went home. I'm wondering if anyone uses HPA because I've heard of some perks including not having that chance of freezing the gun over. Also, my dad has a 10gal air compressor so I could fill my tanks myself.
There's a local game on Thanksgiving and I'm pumped!
Any stories? do tell.

Airsoft is better.

Paintball is for ninnys. :)

350 fps with a bb > 350 fps with a paintball. Plus it's more realistic. I could share airsoft stories?

One time my friends had an air soft gun and they shot me and it hurt and I cried. Never touched any kind of gun again in my life.

I like paintball and airsoft equally. Many stories to tell but far too lazy. But I will say that my Tokyo Marui spring gun with the correct kind of lube outperforms any electric/gas gun you can get in canada.

Paintball guns outperform all airsoft guns.
Considering the fact that when an airsoft gun hits you it stings a little, and when a paintball hits you, it leaves a welt.

Actually, playing in a league a airsoft gun, specifically sniper rifle, will break skin. I was at operation iron angel and some dude tore his lip open taking automatic fire from 3 high performance AEGs. No only that parts of his face and hands were bleeding too. Kinda funny how paintball doesn't hurt either. I could tell you right now with a TM PSG-1 I could own you and your entire team without any of them even seeing a thing. For the fact paintballers stick out like god damn sore thumbs even when they are seriously trying to hide.

If you ever want to go into the military and you expect paintball to teach you whats what I'm sure the only job they'll have for you is anal sex.

There are 3 classes of airsoft guns. Everyone bases their opinion on the weakest. Until you have played competition or have payed 450 dollars for a gun, you have no room to talk. Go STFU napalm.

I love the fact that paintball is played competition in places with plastic blow up covers while airsoft is played in realistic urban, desert, and jungle environments. You guys sure look tough pissing yourselves behind those 10 cent covers that help you form what you like to call a "war game".

You're dumb. Airsoft welts too, if it's a gun that cost more than 50 bucks. My 25 dollar G36 welted a pasty kid, and another kid's 400 dollar gas pistol welted everyone. Airsoft is a crap-ton cheaper than paintball, many people automatically mistake it as being lower quality.

edit- Kinetix beat me to it.

Oh and I just checked

The average speed of a top-of-the-line paintball gun fires a paintball at roughly 325 FPS. Thats about 50 FPS lower than my weakest gun. Somewhere around 300 FPS lower than the weakest airsoft sniper rifle.

Here the competition limits are 400 FPS automatics 650 FPS sniper rifles.

Paintball is ultimately the best. We used to play with a kind of ball called 'slam'. they are yellow and have insults written on them. they also have an extra-thick shell and do not break when they hit someone. this vastly increases the pain factor, and allows the person to pick up the ball and read the insults before firing it back.

I shot a friend in the shoulder with one, then again in the exact same spot 5 minutes later. he had a welt for a month and a half.

I love paintball, i try to go about 2 times a month, it gets pricey though due to paint costs and gun upkeep. If your tank is a CO2 tank then the cold weather will hinder the evaporation of the condensed CO2 in your tank and cause your gun to freeze. As for filling your tank i would be VERY careful. If your tank is a CO2 tank (which many times cheaper tanks are) it isn't meant to be filled with air. Also if it is an air tank they are only rated for certain PSI if you fill it over that it will explode. One of my friends tried to fill his tank w/ a compresser and he lost his thumb and feeling in the rest of his hand. Paintball vs Airsoft, I have to go with paintball. I've never been a militaristic person and paintball is a lot less war and more shooting a lot of paint at one target, plus you can play indoors which is great for the colder months. If you want to learn more about paintball i suggest going to the pbnation forums at pbnation.com, you'll find everything you need to know about paintball and MOST of the people there are very friendly.

That's not nice. But I haven't played either in years. I didn't have a friend who would play with me except one. Which wasn't very fun since he had a sniper rifle and I only had a tiny thing that represented an MP5.

Thanks, if you haven't payed attention in the last month, and 45 posts...I'm not a very nice person, am I?

i've always wanted to (either of them, can't have much opinion on something you've never actually done) but my mother promised me she'd personally beat me if i dared. She might have forgotten what it is by now, so i figure i'll start hinting at it again soon.
