Couldn't I just go and rent a game from blockbuster and copy onto the xbox.

I'm pretty sure you're going to need the disc to play it. It'll authenticate with the disc, then just read off the HDD.

ya, the disc needs to be in stil, but for 90% of the games it makes the loading times faster. (some games it actually makes loading slower)

The major plus here is that you dont have to deal with the noise of the god damn disk drive.

Also, down the road devs can make good use of the feature.
